Padayappa - Story

In Padayappaa Rajni and Nasser play the sons of Sivaji. When Sivaji dies, he leaves behind lots of riches for his sons but Nasser tricks Rajni into taking all the worthless stuff while he himself gets all the good stuff. Saddled with barren land, Rajni works hard and discovers that there's granite under the land. From then onwards, the simple Aarupadayappan becomes Padayappaa! Howzzit??!!

FIRST SONG

Apparently, ARRehman has finished the songs for Padayappaa. In the grand tradition of Naan Autokkaaran, Oruvan Oruvan and Adhaandaa Idhaandaa comes the first song from Padayappaa. The song starts Padayappaa Raaja Nadayappaa. Music to the ears, isnt it?!

If you remember, the 'rudraksham' was a central point in Rajni's previous venture Arunachalam, taking a predominant place in the title and the movie itself. It's old news that for Padayappaa, is going to revolve around Lord Muruga and his 'aarupadai veedu'. This can be seen from the titlelogo too, seen above.  Another tidbit is that Rajnikanth will be sporting a simple, black earring in Padayappaa.

MORE ON PADAYAPPAA

Shooting for Padayappaa is scheduled to start November 2 in Mysore. As more news about the cast filters in, Shalini, fresh from her success in the blockbuster Kaadhalukku Mariyaadhai, is to play Rajni's sister. Vijay, seen by many as heir-apparent to Rajni himself, has also obtained a guest role.

After all the rumours about Rajnikanth's next project, its now official! The movie is Padayappaa. The 'Muthu' team is getting together with KSRavikumar behind the camera and ARRehman tuning the music. Soundarya and Ramya Krishnan are the heroines while 'Sivaji' Ganesan is slated to play the role of Rajni's father. According to Rajni himself, Padayappaa is another name for Lord Muruga and also means commander-in-chief (Thalapathy). As was the case in Arunachalam, Padayappaa will be produced by Rajni's friends and the revenue from the movie will be used to help deserving but financially deprived students. With KSR busy with the telugu remake of his tamil hit 'Natpukkaaga', Padayappaa is slated for a December start and a 1999.
